Some thousands of workmen, oufc of employment, assembled on the 22nd insfc. in Sunderland, and marched, accompanied by, a band of music, to Sunderland Moor, where a resolution was passed expressing the hope that, as they were drivea by great distress to appeal to the public, their fellow-men at work and the public generally would render all possible assigtance. Mr L. Smith, a member of the school board, proposed, " That the meeting considers it the duty of tlie Government either to provide labor for tha unemployed in England by constructing useful works, or to afford sufficient means to enable them to .emigrate- to countries where thty would be able to provide for themselves and their" families." This resolution was also carried unanimously.
