The debate-last night re the franchise of natives was very lively ; Government seemed undecided on their policy, the Opposition eventually winning their point in getting the natives a vote where as possessors of a freehold they own that right. This very point the late Government were refused by the Upper House, which caused the withdrawal of the Electoral Bill.
Government intend withdrawing every measure possible, and are giving no pledge respscting Public
The Opposition will probably make an attack on their financial proposals, under the leadership of Sir George Grey, although some question the advisability of taking otliee at present.
Your''members appear to be giving every attention to the Borough's require* merits, accompanying your delegate to the Ministers.
