Last night.
A strong N.W. gale, accompanied with frequent showers of rain, blew all day. Outdoor sports w<=re poorly attended. Jas. Burry won the Wellington Athletic Club's Cup of £50.
The tramway has been extended to Newton, and the engine ran there for the first time today.
