It is uudersfood that the Financial Statement is well advanced, and will be ready to be brought down this week should it be nercssary to do so, but the Public Works Statement will not be ready for some lime.
It has been rumored the Go?ornment do not intend to deal thoroughly this session with either Finance or Public Works, but it is stated that this -is incorrect. The Caledonian Society has voted one hundred guineas for prizes ou New Year's Day. Arrived: New Zealand Shipping Company's ship Wairoa from London with 220 passengers all well. There are no Government immigrants amongst them.

A ease of disputed trusteeship was argued before Mr Justice Richmond today. The point of law raised was whether, as has been done in case of Honry McArdie a single creditor being the only one in a bankrupt estate, can convert himself into a meeting lo begin with, and role himself •rustec. The judge sustained tho objection raised Il3' Counsel for the debtor, ami cited the precedent afforded by a citse of A!p<>rt of Chrislchurch. The Trustee therefore appointed by the registrar, (who overruled McArdie's actiois) wns held to be the only trustee.
