This day
Walsli who was found guilty of the fraudulent appropriation of moneys of the Hibernian Australian Catholic Benefit Society was brought for sentence, but Counsel raising two legal objections, they were reserved for the Court of Appeal, the prisoner being allowed bail in £400. There is some mistake about Mr Gannon's appointment as interpreter, as a son of Bishop Hadfield, sits on the Government benches alongside Totnoana.
When the cutter Margaret Scollay was about half way between the Brothers and Tarawiti a topmast was seen floating perpendicalarly about seven feet out of the water. It appeared to belong to a schooner of about 40 or 50 tons regiiter. It is supposed the vessel sunk where the mast is standing.
