Last night. An attempt to start a boiling down factory at Amberley has been allowed to drop for the present, the projectors not receiving necessary promises of support. The trustees of the Christohurch Racecourse intimate that they will prosecute trespassers on the course ia the future. This is owing to strangers Dot entitled running horses on the course. The intimation does not refer to ordinary visitors to the course.

The Christchurch Poultry Society have sent to England orders for a second shipment amounting to £127. Included is a commission from Napier; the Shipping Company having undertaken to bring the birds out freight free.

The tramway cars opened on Saturday. They are light, strong, and comfortable looking, and each will seat fifty passengf ra. The roof ii reached by means of a spiral staircase at the end of each car.
