Last night.

The libol actions raised by Major Mair and Mr Seanincko against the Hawkes Bay Herald have been amicably settled through Messrs Buller and Lewis the plaintiffs' solicitors. The Herald publishes a full retraction and apology, and pays fifty pounds into Court and all costs in the case. The Herald also extends the apology to Major Jackson.

'Die Telegraph has in a similar manner stopped the libel action raised against it by Mr Bees by apologising, and paying £100 to the Hospital and costs.

The show of the Hawkcs Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society yesterday and to-day was a great 3uccess.
