DECIDE (TAIRUA).
Most encouraging adfices are to hand concerning the prospects of this claim, which comprises the old Ajax or Alma ground, Tairua. The present proprietor! of the mine and battery, Messrs Adams and party are displaying a great spirit of enterprise in opening up the ground. They hare now 15 men employed in the miue and battery, and are crushing with 15 head of stampers, day shifts. On the 25th retorting will take place after the month's run. The stuff .being crushed is estimated to be worth fully lOdwts per ton, and as the reef is well defined, and fully 7ft Gin thick, this arerage should pay admirably. The reef reterred to has 75 feet of backs, and has been driven on 6*o feet without any variation in the quality of the stone. The shareholders are driving a low level croiscut 90 feet below the lerel now beine worked. They are already ia about 200 feet and about 150 feet further driving is required before the lode is cut. The ground is pretty good, and fair progress is made.
