i Last night. The criminal case, Lawrence v. W. L. Sees, for issuing a cheque to Kogan. he having no account in the bank. When Laurence bought some land, be gave a cheque tor £47 10s, which when presented had no account written on it. He admitted knowing it had been dishonored, and he had tried to get an auctioneer to sell the land but none would offer it. Although he had received a note from Eogan's managing clerk, explaining the circumstances under which the cheque was given. It had been stipulated that the cheque should not he presented for a week. The case is proceeding. Rees has laid an information against Lawrence for perjury. Mr Kees said he did not object to Flexman, a Justice of the Peace sitting on tha bench, although he had been informed that Flexraan was circulating a report that he had offered to bribe him, to give him a decision in a certain way in Cooper's case. He was about to make representations to the Government in the matter. If he, Mr Kees had done anything wrong, be was amendable to the Supreme Court, as a barrister, and to public opinion. A Justice ia TrouWs. E. F. Ward, junior solicitor, C. W. Flexman, J.P., and four other persons have been committed for trial to the Supreme Court for riotously taking possession of premises on Sunday week, and assaulting William Cappel. Cappel was a bailiff in possession, under a writ for £3GO, and on Sunday morning, Flexman invited him to take a glass of whiskey which ho did, and was soon afterwards seized with violent loo.seninsj ia the bowels which continued all day. While Cappel was out, Flexman nailed up the house and shut ,hira out. Oappel then brought two men to try to effect an entrance, but Ward came over with nine men in twos and threes at intervals. One of Cappei's men was struck with a stick, and he himself was pushed down, and the ' whole of them were forcibly ejected from the ground. Flexman invited his followers by saying " come on boys." Cappel accuses Flexman of having drugged him.
