Frank Amoor, storeman ta Smith, Turnbull ard Company, was committed for trial for stealing £12 worth of goods from the store.

The Chamber of Commerce is discussing the necessity of obtaining an alteration in the bankruptcy law. It was moved that a solicitor be employed to frame a bankruptcy law to be introduced through this session. It was suggested that a petition asking for an alteration would gave more effect than a draft act from the Chamber. The matter was finally left to a committee to take action.

The Liberal Association held a meeting. 60 were present;. It was determined that the society be permanent, and that strict watch be kept over the actions of members of Parliament to see they adhered to their hustings' pledges, and that the Wellington . Association place itself in communication with other Liberal Associations throughout the Colony. Arrangements were made by which delegates from other parts of the colony be invited to attend the meetings to be held here periodically.

The Turakina Advocate announces this morning that McMinu, editor of paper, has instructed his solicitor to demand an apology, and withdrawal of certain statements made by the Wellington Chronicle alleged to be malicious defamation and false, otherwise proceed* ings will be taken.
