SOUTH AUSTRALIA. Charles Fair, late quarter-master of the John Elder, was charged with abducting Florence Shaw, 17 years of age. The girl, with her mother and step-father arrived by the John Elder, and during the voyage the intimacy was formed. On arriving in Adelaide, Fair took the sjirl to a tent on the Maim railway and has since lived there with her. He had ascertained that her grandfather had left her £300. Fair was committed for trial.
The second rending of the Bill to reform the Council Was carried in the Assembly by 30 to 8, giving a necessary and absolute majority.
