The Southern Cross, mission schooner, arrived at Norfolk Island with Bishop Selwyn from Sydney.
A Message from Rewi to the House.
A Kopua chief 'named Tupotabi, staying with Bewi recently, leaves for Weilington to convey Bewi's words to Parliament. Rewi would have gone himself but for his precarious health. A Grammar School boy named Holland fell down some steps, breaking his leg, and was not discovered, lying there for nearly two hours. Sunday night. Arrived: The Hinemoa, from the South: also H.M.S. Cormorant, from Samoa. Shs landed Sir Arthur Gordon at levuka, andDeVoy, Lieut.Governor, leaves for Sydney on the 16th. Sir Arthur Gordon was received with great honors. He executed a treaty at Samoa with the Sanio'an Government, in which tho latter agreed that no privileges or predominance should be given to any Foreign Power in excess :of those accorded to Great Britain.
Daniel McEroy, a seaman of the *htp Famenoth, fell off the wharf last night and was drowned. Four boats tried to rescue him, but failed. The body was washed ashore to-day.
Seven seamen of the Minister of Marine have been arrested for disobedience of orders.
A strong JN".E. gale blowing, with constant rain.
