Last night.
Eightean applications were received by the Board of Education for the second mastership of the Timaru Public School. Mr Thomas Hughes, of Geraldine, was selected.
There are six candidates for the Mayoralty of the new Borough of Wai-
mate.
The weather continues beautifully calm and fine, and the young crops ara looking splendid all over the district.
The annual race meeting at Temuka will be held to-morrow.
