Last night.
There are unpleasant rumors about a well known Dunedin solicitor. The whole defalcations are said to amount to seven thousand pounds. .

The news of the death of their family was broken to the Misses Wilson by the Mayor yesterday, which strange to say was the thirteenth birthday of the youn(rer girl. The inquest on the bodies today shows that one victim arrived in the colony only a week before the fire, having come here for the benefit of his health, leaving his wife and four children in Scotland. One of the women bad not been in the colony a year. The inquest on the bodies of those who perished was commenced to-day," and adjourned till Monday.
