Last night.

There was a long discussion at the Harbor Board meeting today concerning the removal of tho banking account to the Bank of Kcw Zealand, but it was c\rentnnlly determined to adopt the Committee's report by 6 to 3.

At the official declaration of the poll to-day the numbers fi>r Christchureh wero unaltered; the candidates were present, and addressed the electors, of whom there were a largo number present.

There were some dozen rioters brought before tho Police Court this morning for throwing flour and creating disturbance, and resisting the police, &c, yesterday. The Magistrate, in most cases, dismissed them with a caufion. ;

A deputation waited on Sir George Grey and Mr Macnndi'evr to-day regarding the reinofiil of Commissioner Conyers to Duncdin. In answer to the deputation it was said that the question would bo considered, with reference to the most

efficient working of the railways. Sir G. Grey said that there were no doubts existing but that, when tho West Coast railway was completed, Christchurch must of necessity be the centre Jof tho railway system of the Middle Island. The Hon. Mr Fisher, who was present, took occasion to stnte that the Suez mail would in future be forwarded by a special train from the Bluff to Christchurch.
