GREYMOUTH.
Last night. Mr Masters, one of the candidates for Grey Valley, addressed his constituents in the Volunteer Hall this afternoon, and received the usual vote of confidence. In the evening Mr Beeves, the late member addressed a crowded meeting at the Public Hall. Belative to a statement printed in the Star, purporting to be a copy of a semi-official statement in the Otago Daily Times that Macandrew had never condemned Blairs report, Mr Beeves stated that he knew nothing at mil about the composition of the report, and tbat he was not in favor Of the report; al«o that he had Macandrew bound hand and foot to support the railway; that Sir George Grey was pledged to it, and that Mr Gisborne was jigged to it also. If elected he (Mr Beeves) would bring forward a motion condemning Mr Blair and his report. A vote of confidence was carried. Mr Lahman, son of a member of the Upper House, another candidate, addressed the meeting supporting the Grey Government, and also that he was in favour of Denominational Education. The election to-morrow will be close.
