Enthusiastic Reception of the Premier.
Saturday night.
Sir G. -Grey -addressed one of the largest meetings ever held in Invercargil), and received a most enthusiastic reception. A motion approving of his policy and expressing confidence was passed. It in estimated that 2500 persons were present. Between 200 and 300 Sadies were present. The members of Grey party distributed themselves about the hall to maintain order, which was only broken by rowdies sent by the other aide. The precaution was not needless, as it has since transpired that it was intended to upset the meeting by causing a fire bell to ring. This was anticipated by the Constable on duty at the tower. Grey got a splendid hearing, and a vote of confidence carried amid tremendous applause. . *
