Sir George Grey leaves for Christohurch on the 21st inst. to address the electors. He proposes going South as far as Invercargill, making speeches at the centres of population.

The Telegraph Department have been exempted from certain regulations made under " The Public Kevenues Act, 1878." J. J. McDonald of Auckland, and W. McKay of Waikato, have been appointed J's.P. T. C. Williamson of Wellington has resigned his appointment as J.P. J. E. Macdonald has been appointed R.M. at Auckland with a jurisdiction up to £50, H. D. Johnson to be a clerk and interpreter in the Native Office, and P. C. S. Buff to be assistant draughtsman in the Survey Department.
