GREYMOUTH.
Last night. A serious accident hvs occurred at the coal pit of the Heath Company's mine at Brunnerton, whereby a young man named John Perkins was dangerously injured. A; shot had been fired the previous evening displacing a large block of coal, and leaving some of it overhanging; Perkins and another endeavoured to remove it, when. it fell upon Perkins, burying him; when he was released it was found he had sustained a compound fracture of the leg and other severe internal injuries. Two claims struck payable gold yesterday at the new rush at "V\festbrook, creating great excitement at Kumara.
