A requisition is being got up at Cambridge inviting Mr F. J. Moss to contest Waikato East in the Grey interest. '.":
A number of deaths have occurred among the King natives, principally children.
W. P. Buckland met the Franklin electors at Howick to-night. He said he would give a qualified, support to the Ministry, bat no pledges, and would vote with the majority of the Auokland members. He received a vote of thanks.
There has been incessant rain all day.
J. S. Macfarlane, in his address to the electors of Wai'temata, issues a manifesto a column and a half long against the Government.
A gum digger named J. P. Irwin, while in the Northern Wairoa Hotel, dropped dead. The verdict of the Coroner's Jury was heart disease.
The North New Zealand Association intend submitting their resolution re the purchase of native lands to certain influential Maori chief* for perusal and opinion, and then call a public meeting next week under the presidency of the Mayor for their discussion and adoption.
A rehearing of the famous Okaura block case in the Native Lands Court is' probable. One alleged ground is that the name of one of the principal claimants has been omitted from the memorial of ownership.
Goldie declines reelection for City West. Dr Wallis is; out on the Liberal ticket. E. Graham and W. Buchanan are also mentioned.
Considerable public interest is taken in the application of. the Union Sash and Door Company to the Waste Lands Board for a depasturing license over 56,000 acres of land. It is said three hundred gum diggers would be affected by it .

Mr Swangon, who stands for Newton, re-prints his old electoral address as he will go in the old path. Moss, for Farnell, states he will give the Ministry sincere support. Hobbi, for Franklyn, requests the electors who approve of the Government administration not to vote for him. *
J. B. McMillan was arrested on the Hero, charged with embezzling £13, the property pf Hemus and Hanna. He was remanded.
John Smith is commencing the erection of extensive stabling at Ellerslie for his racing stud. V
