A large fire has occurred at Albury. The Imperial Hotel and the Bank of New South Wales hare been completely destroyed.

The rerenue for the last financial year is £1,661,000, and the expenditure £1,854,000. The chief deficiency is in Customs rerenue. For the current year the rerenue is estimated at £1,855,000, and the expenditure at £2,090,000, the estimated deficiency being £254,000, exclusive of supplementary estimates, which it is proposed to be corered by new taxes of sixpence in the £ on income derived from interest, threepence in the £1 on capital invested in business, and threepence in £1 on incomes exceeding £300 per annum\_
