TIMARU.

Monday-. A terrible accident occurred this afternoon, resulting fatally, to a man named Andrew McGavin, working on the Government Landing Service. He was in the front of a heavy cargo boat, holding the surf rope. He got entangled and was thrown down, the boat passing over his body and crushing him to death instantaneously. He was a married man, his wife and children being in Dunediu. News has just been received that a son of B. Sheath, of Eollesby station, who was proceeding to an out-station, has been missing four days. It is supposed he has perished in the snow. Search I parties are out.
