' Last "night. The expenditure for Native purposes for the year ending Juno 3rd, amounted to about £9500; of this sum £3806 7s 3d was spent in pensions, £2171 8s 9d in food and clothing, £699 18s 6d on medical attendance and medicine, and £1410 14s 4d on gratuities and contributions. The salary of the Native Minister is nil, Mr Sheehan drawing his salary as Minister for Justice, £1250, though most of his time is occupied in Native affairs. This day.
