The deputation had another interview with Colonel Whitmore with reference to their question yesterday; ' i
Colonel Whitmore asked, in the event of Government marching on Parjhaka, if the settlers would undertake to occupy 5 , the posts now held by the Constabulary.
' The deputation gave assurance that settlers would do so. ' i , Col. Whitmore said three miles of rail;* way between Hawera and Normanby was to be commenced 'at once, and another seven miles would be shortly commenced.
The Pleione brings 152,000 rounds of ammunition and 109 cases of fuse* arid tubes for the Government. „ The Maori prisoners are now being tried; they are evidently disinclined to speak. ~ . ' l
