MICHAEL HAYMAN V. SIMON WILLIAMS. Claim, £3, board.

The plaintiff deposed that the debt was incurred for board and lodging for a fortnight, and cash lent. Defendant denied that he owed all the money claimed. Judgment for plaintiff £2, and costs, 10s.

A few weeks ago Bateman lost a fine sow, and said he would give me £1 if I took him to where the pig was. I agreed to this, and took him to Savage's place, where we found the animal. On the following Saturday, I went to Bateman fcr the, money, but he refused to give it to me, whereupon I said that I should have; to summons him. Bateman aaid he valued the pig at £10. By defendant—Just before we got to Savage's, Bateman said he would not

give me more than 10s, unless he got a conviction. Thomas Bennett and William Eeid, slaughtermen, *gave evidence in support of the claim. Robert Bateman* deposed — I told Thompson that I would give him £1 if he showed me where the pig was, and I secured a conviction. I said distinctly that I would only give him 10s if I got the pig without any trouble. His Worship said he was surprised to see Bateman bringing such a trumpery case into Court. Judgment would be given for the plaintiff, with costs £1. Court adjourned.
