Thames High School Board.
A meeting of the Board was held in the Mayor's room last evening. Present —The Mayor (Chairman), Mr Brodie, Mr Wilkinson, Mr Brown, and Dr Kilgour. f
After the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed, the Chairman reported that he had sent the letters ordered at last meeting. . ' '." It was decided thai the Chairman should write t& the Improvement Com. missioners of Auckland protesting^; on behalf of the Board, to the absolute ooatrol of their endowments,being handed to the City Council unless the interests of the Board of Education were conserved. :■■■'■■
A letter from E. Honiss,' asking to rent the Hall for the purpose of establishing a club for members tof the Good Templar order and others, was read, but as the Board are determined to start the school the request could not be granted. A letter from Mrs Alexander, a teacher in the Girls' High School, Auckland, was read, and a reply was ordered to be sent stating her request was under consideration.
At the request of the Chairman fi. J. O'Suilivan, Chief Inspector of Schools, met the Board, and in reply to a number of questions, gave the Board a considerable amount of information. Mr Heald was appointed secretary at a salary of £10 per annum. : : ; ; . This concluded the business.
