Cape Town, April 8.
Lord Chelrasford'a camp at Gurgelora was repeatedly attacked by about eleven thousand Zulus at daybreak on the 3rd instant.
The enemy was repulsed with heavy loss. The total British loss was 220 of all ranks.
Lord Chelmsford relieved Ekowe on the 4th. It has Bince been evacuated and Col. Pearson is returning to the Turgela Kirer.
The Boers are threatening to invest Pretoria and retain Governor Sir Bartle Frere unleßs their demands are granted.
London, April 22.
After relieving Ekowe Lord Chelmsford returns to Gurgelora, and abandons Ekowe as a military position. He forms an entrenched camp between Tugela and Port Durnford.
The House of Commons assented to the introduction of a miuiiterial bill for allowing bank unlimited liabilities to register with a reserved liability.
