Native War in Arno.

The brigantine Meg Merrilies arrived this morning from the Islands with a cargo of copra. She reports that the native troubles in Botumah have subsided. When passing Arno Island the crew heard reports of guns prcseeding from the shore. They hove to and white traders came off in a boat and stated that the natives were fighting. The rival parties were assisted by numbers of natives from adjoining islands. ,

In the Police Court today a woman applied for a protection order against her husband, and recounted a heart-rending story of her wrongs. When she had finished, her alleged husband, in defence, asserted that he was never married to the woman. A search was instituted by the Kegistrar, which shewed that there was no record of a marriage, consequently the application ras refused.

A representative billiard match, between the North (representsd by an Auckland gentleman), and a Southern ditto, 500 up, has taken plpca. There was a large attendance. The Auckland man ran out when his rival was at 452. The Auckland man has been challenged by another Southern man.

The Fanny proceeds to Whangaroa to load timber for Dunedin.

The Fawn sailed from the Manukau for Kaipara to load timber for the South.
