Some Volunteers^' who ' nave*"'" jost returned from a Volunteer demonstration at Invercargill, have been guilty of naost disgraceful conduct.. About 30 of them proceeded to a house' of ill fame in Stuart street, on Tuesday night, where, it is alleged, ODe of their number had latterly been robbed of £5. The invaders demanded restoration of the money. Their request at first was refusefi, upon which they threatened to pull the house down, and had actually began the process of destruction, when tHe inmates yielded to the demands of the intruders. The body of red-coated warriors then paraded through the street, and defied the police. Today, another Volunteer, beastly drunk, leaned against a post of a fruiterer's Bhop, offering pears and other kinds of fruit to everybody who passed. 'The offender hails either from Christchurdh"or Timaru. Much indignation is felt at their larrikin* ish behaviour. The ringleader is to be prosecuted at the Police Court.,-.
