Thursday. An explosion of gas ocoarred at a mercantile office today. A jet which lighted the strong room was left burning, and the air becoming exhausted, it went out. A lad who had just come to the office oh> served the smell of gas, and opened the door of the room to allow it to escape. Sufficient time was not, however, allowed when he struck a match and lighted a jet which exploded the gas collected in'the upper part of the room, knocking the boy down and burning the skin on his face. No serious injury was done. The charge of arson against Isidore Schwartz occupied the whole day at the Supreme Court. Seventeen witnesses were examined for the prosecution. „It is not unlikely that the trial will last till Friday.
