Arrived to-day, the Transit, from Lyttelton, and the Hawea, from the South.
The Bonita, a large wooden barque, is likely to be chartered to assist to raise the Taupo. The Mary Miller has arrived from Newcastle.
At the Police Court to-day, David Goldsten was charged with a breach of the Municipal Corporations Act in selling a lottery ticket to throw for. jewellery. The defendant is proprietor of Fatima, in which envelopes are sold at Is each* Detective Jeffrey deposed to a ticket which drew a good pipe. Detective Brennan also took a chance, and won a pipe. The Bench inflicted a fine of 20s and costs.
At Onehunga a boy named Arthur Bowel, aged seven years, was kicked by a horse which he endeavored to frighten off the road. Portions of the skull were broken away from the back of the head. It is feared that the injuries will be fatal.
