An unsuccessful attempt was made on Sunday by Boatrum Wonsokinloff, an employee in the Finance Department, to assassinate the Emperor of Bussia. The assassin fired four shots at the Emperor, who escaped untouched. The assassin was arrested.

Great enthusiasm was shown by the people of St. Petersburg at the escape of the Emperor.
