BLENHEIM.
Wednesday. A newspaper has been started here by the Opposition, aided by Mr Ward, M.H.B. The latter , moved in the Education Board that the whole of the advertising be taken from the Express and given to his paper. The same parties in Wairau Road Board and Borough Council carried la similar resolution. In the Build* ing Society a like motion was moved with the same result. The Express states that in future it will publish all their notices gratuitously, and protests strongly against the course of forcing a paper with -public funds to further private ends and spleen. It denounces the Education Board as an engine. of oppression, and puts its trust in the spirit of fair-play which animates Englishmen. The grounds of difference between Ward and the proprietor of the Express are said to be secular education, bringing the Counties Act into operation, and Greyism.
