The Races commenced to-day. 2000 -persons were present. The Feather was pretty fine for the first part of the dßy. When the Napier Handicap was ran, a 'heavy shower came on.
4 For the' Maiden Plate—Hailstorm, 1; Loch Lomond, 2 ; Kakaoroa, 3.
The Railway Stakes—Sinking Fund, 1; ■Sfever Miss, 2 ; Moa, 3. J For the Cup there was a splendid race. Pinfire, 1; Lady Elizabeth, 2; Lara, 3. Six started. It was won by a neck.
