Excursions, &c.
Notwithstanding thi^ttractions at home, a large number of persons preferred spending the holiday in other scenes. The Ohinemuri races and the ceremony of driving the first pile of the Paeroa bridge induced about seventy excursionists to leave by the Te Aroha for Ohinemuri this morning, where they will doubtless spend, a pleasant day. The Naval Cadet gun boat, with a crew, left for Ohinemuri last night. The p.s. Kuby made an excursion to Tapu Creek with twenty or thirty persons, and a good day's amusement is expected, the good people of Tapu having prepared a programme of sports. In the evening pleasure seekers would appropriately! wind up a day's amusement by visiting' Messrs Allen and Norris' museum of science and art. -. ,■■.: ,','!. •■ ".;•',;,. ■.::. "...
