Cricket Match.

Thames v. Coxokaztdik

The cricket match between the Thames and Coromandel Cricket, Clubs was not the least important portion of the day's amusement. The Coromandel team accompanied by a number of friends arrived here yesterday morning by the Tongariro and the rival teams left the bank corner at about 9.30 o'clock this morning. On arriving at the ground it was found that a first*class wicket had been prepared the recent slight showers having made the sward elastic. The Visitors' team went in, Whitford and Burgess commencing the bowling to the batting of Woodward and Cadman. The former was speedily bowled by Whitford for a duck's-egg. Cadman made a good stand for 25, when his wickets also fell before Whitford. The wicket keeping of. the Thames was good, and the rest of the team , went out for single figures, the bowling being too warm 10. make a long stand against. Burgess was in splendid form, and the fielding of our side much better than we have seen it in previous matches. The innings closed for 51 funs. The Thames then went to the wickets, but none of our men made a stand except Sfceedman who contributed 15. Beeson and Norman bowled splendidly. The innings closed for 56 runs. Mr Carnell was umpire for Coromandel and Mr Heron for Thames. The following are the scores:—.
