DEATH of Dr O'FLAHERTY.

It is with feelings of extreme regret that we hare to record the death of Or Francis O'Flaherty, House Surgeon to ; the Thames Goldfields Hospital, which took place at the Hospital at a little after nine o'clock this (morning. .The age of the deceased gentleman was only 30 years, 'and the cause of his death consumption, the insidious seeds of which were sown about a year ago, he haying caught a severe cold during an excursion to Ohinemuri, which never left him, and, assisted by a naturally weak ccnstitutionV terminated in a rapid decline. EDr O'Plaherty '■ was; a native of Ireknd, and has been but 2j years in this colony, and was a Licen-.? tiate of the Boyal College of Surgeons, Ireland. Shortly after his arrival here he was elected on the honorary medical staff of the Hospital, and on the death of 'the then House Surgeon (the late Dr. W. A. Eerston), in April )ast,,.he .was ! appointed to the charge of the 'Hospital: Since then, notwithstanding his failing health, he has given the greatest satisfaction, and by his' gentlemanly, unostentatious manner hns made himself many friends, who will deeply regret hia demise. Dr Pdyne, of the honorary medical* staff, has assumed charge of the Hospital pending further arrangements being made by the Hospital Committee. It, may not be out of place to mention that Dr. O'Flaberty's demise makes the third death on the Hospital medical staff in less than three years, and all three at intervals 1 of about a year.
