RUSSELL.

• Wednesday. A large meeting was held last night at Kawakawa for the purpose of forming a company to purchase the s.s. Ida for ferry work. A company was formed; tin name to be the Bay of Islands Navigation Company. The share s were readily taken, and everything augurs a success for this venture. About half the shares will be held in Eussell, and the remainder at Kawakawa.

A newspaper is also to be started at the coal mines.

The Hero left yesterday evening, after taking in 200 tons of coal.
