(heat Fire at Masteiton.
Another most destructive fire broke out at Masterton about 2 o'clock this morning, destroying a large block of buildings, including the newly erected Bank of Aus- : tralasia, Williams and Cameron's, Adler's, Wilton, seedsman, a boarding house and other business places. Further particulars are not yet to hand as the telegraph line is down. Fire brigades worked splendidly, and stopped the progress of the fire. Later. The following are the insurances on the buildings and goods destroyed by the Masterton fire:—South British, £100; Victoria, £100; New Zealand, £250; North British and Mercantile, £2,250; Standard, £1,200 ; Northern, £900 ; National, £2,350; Sun, £500. It is reported that a good deal of the stock has been saved.
