On Monday evening 1; at the council meeting of the Church of England Working Men's Society, the secretary reported that.be had received letters from no fewer thatf 15 Biihops (including the two Primates) as to a statement that their lordships had come to a resolution not to grant licenses for the re-marriage of divorced persons. Most of their lordships said they were not aware of any joint resolution. The Bishop of Wincheater wrote, however, more explicitly. His Lordship said:—"Dear Sir,—My impression ia that nbformal resolution Ton the subject of t tb.e marriage of,divorced persons was passed by the Bishops, but that the general sentiment was expressed to the following effect:—The renular form of marriage is-by banns.
