The Hon. Mr de Salis has given notice of motion in the Council in favour of bounties of £50,000 to encourage the exportation of wheat and meat.
Bbibbane, Friday. Heavy rains have fallen throughout the colony. Brisbane, February 6. George Stephens perished of thirst in the scrub at Warrego. His mate was saved by a passing traveller, after suffering terribly. He even tried to alleviate his thirst by sucking packets of Epsom salts. Adelaide, Thursday. At Moonta further reductions have been made, owing to the depression in copper. At Kaiiunda work is suspended. , Wheat is in full supply, and falling. Settlers are unable to sell. Country flour sold at £10 6s per ton. Friday. Wheat and flour unchanged. Cooktowk, Friday. The blacks are proving troublesome. They hare speared Captain Sykes. His companion, Hartley, succeeded in escaping to a boat, after being pursued by the blacks. . - . -
