DUNEDIN.
Tuesday. The Secretary of the Harbor. Board to-day received a communiction from the Marine Department, Wellington, intimating that an election for a new Board must be held on the second Monday in February; the regulations bearing on the manner in which the local governing bodies and payers of dues are to proceed to the election were gazetted last week. At the meeting for the election of the Dunedin School Committee much interest was shown. Most of the city'clergymen were present, and a number from the surrounding country districts. The "Bible in the Schools Association" presented their ticket containing certain names, and five out of the seven of the pew committee may be counted upon as a certainty in favour of' Bible reading in the schools. The Attorney-General, who was present, gave it as his opinion that the wives, being as much parents as the husbands, were entitled to vote, and thereupon a great many ladies who were present exercised the privilege.
