CHRISTCHURCH.
Tuesday. At the Police Court to-day, Walter Bullevant, alias Weston, alias Hedge, alias Joyce, was charged with forging and uttering a cheque for £3 15s on the Bank of New South Wales, Christchurch. There were nine other charges of a similar nature, the frauds having been committed -on various banks and for various sums. Archibald Moorhead was this morning charged at the Police Court with personating a detective, with a view of obtaining a profit. The case was remanded. It appears that the prisoner had been in the habit of representing himself as a detective to certain individuals in the Domain, and extorting money from them under certain threat's of making exposure.
