NELSON.
This day. Mr Pitt last night addressed in the Theatre Eoyal the largest political meeting ever held in Nelson, the gallery being filled with ladies. On the question of education he said the Catholics had a claim for consideration, and at present the best measure proposed was Mr Curtis' bill, but he was not wedded to that. He was prepared to support a Local Option Bill, but not against existing licenses without compensation. He was loudly cheered throughout. The nomination takes place to-morrow.
