WELLINGTON.

This day. The sittings of the New Zealand Primitive Methodist Conference have concluded. A good deal of business was transacted affecting both the internal and external workings of the church. The next Conference is to be held at Christchurch. A telegram from Gore at 10 last night says:—" Mr Conyers continues gradually to improve, though in a semi-conscions and rather wandering state of mind. He had his wounds dressed afreah this afternoon and consequently experienced more ease and shows every prospect of passing a quiet night. He is attended by Dr Macaffer of Gore, and is receiving all possible attention," J. and T. Meek, of Oamaru, have completed arrangements for making over and re-opening Thos. Kebbell's flour mill, which has been closed for some time past. The intention of the new proprietors is to grind nil wheat obtainable from Rangitikei and Manawatu district, where it is said about one thousand tons is grown every season in excess of what can be worked off in the ordinary channels. At the annual meeting of the Wellington Gas Company a dividend at the rate of 15 per cent, for the year was recommended; a thousand pounds to be added to the reserve fund, and the balance carried forward. The mains have been extended four and a half miles during the year, making 17 miles now laid. A very considerable increase has also been made to the plant during the same period.
