Waiotahi District School Treat.

The children attending the four schools in the Waiotahi School District, viz.: the Thames, Waiotahi Creek, Punga Flat, and Eureka, were entertained in the Tararu Gardens yesterday. The numbers present were as follows :—Thames School, 219 ; Waiotahi Creek School, 123 ; Punga Flat, 24,; Eureka, 28. There was not such a large attendance as might have been expected from the numbers on the rolls, a good many being absent from the Thames and Waiotahi Creek Schools. The children met at their respective schools at 9 a.m., and marched to Curtis' wharf, whence they were taken to the gardens in the train, where they arrived a little before 11. About 12.30 they had dinner, and at 3 o'clock the prizes were distributed by Mrs Fraser, after which three hearty cheers were given for that lady, then three for Mr Davies, Chairman of the School Committee, three for the Committee, and lastly, three for the teachers, after which the National Anthem was sung. The children then had tea, and a little after 5 o'clock were taken back to Grahamstown in the train. They seemed to have enjoyed themselves very much. The following children belonging to the Thames School received good attendance certificates:—First Class—Thos. Whitaker, Phillis Hattray, Martha Agnew, and Angus Campbell. Second Class —Mary Herivel, Thomas Smith, John

McDermott, Agnes Kerr, Isabella, Laurie, Benjamin Shardlow, David Peterson, Thomas, Kerr, and David Griffiths. The school prizes were distributed as follows to the Thames and Waiotahi Creek Schools: —
