AUSTRALIAN.
Melbourne, Tuesday. The seamen of Melbourne have struck work for £7 per month for,the voyage to London, and £6 per month all round. One hnndred and fifty men are out on strike, and the number is increasing. Several ships are now lying idle, and it is feared that many more will be laid up. An absurd statement is being circulated to the effect that UJyett and Em met t, of Lord Harris's team, sold the match to the bookmakers. The fact is they played the match on their merits.
Cantertmy v. East Melbourne. Melbourne, Monday. The match between Canterbury and East Melbourne was continued to-day. Watson and Hartland, who made a good commencement on Saturday, were soon disposed of, and none of the Canterbury team did much against, the bowling,of Alexander and Kendall.
