THE Evening Star. PUBLISHED DAILY AT FOUR O'CLOCK P.M. Resurrexi. SATURDAY, JANUARY 4, 1879.
Wb are glad to hear that there is every probability of tenders being called for within ten days or so for reclamation works on the foreshore for the railway. Mr James Stewart, Eesident Engineer for Auckland, and Mr D. M. Beere, pioneer engineer for Thames and Waikato Eailway, seem to have caught the spirit of Ministers, and are doing all they can to push on the work vigorously. Both gentlemen have been actively engaged since yesterday morning in examining localities, and otherwise making themselves acquainted with the probable route, and Mr Beere's previous knowledge of the district will undoubtedly stand him in good stead in carrying out the important duties entrusted to him in connection with the railway.
