The second day's racing commenced at noon to-day, and at the starting of the first race there was a good number on the course, and also in the gardens, though there was hardly so many as yesterday or on the previous day, but the greatest interest was evinced. The booths were well patronised, and there was no : evidence that the district was in any way affected by commercial depression. Mr Leonard lodged' a protest against Skylark on the groucd that the jockey crossed him, but the protest -was not maintained by the stewards after hearing the evidence. The decision appeared to give every satisfaction to the spectV'yrs when it was xaade known, although« Leonard was not without sympathises for the ill luck of hit game little mare.
