The damage done by the floods will cost the County several thousand pounds. The approaches to the bridges are much damaged, and a large portion of tb# Hungerford bridge is carried away. Traffic by that route will be stopped for a week. No sign of the Christchurch coach, and it is feared the Christchurch road is much damaged. The flood is down. The races are postponed on account of the wet weather. Large quantities of gold selling to the banks. The Wairoea water race is fully employed, and if 50 more heads of water were available it would be used. It is reported that the Storm Channel overflowed at Boss and flooded half the town, doing much injury. The holidays are completely spoiled by the continuous down-pour of rain.
